Cultural heritage has no borders

 

We are designing the first Digital Museum of the Swiss Abroad to discover, promote and preserve a unique part of our Swiss cultural heritage that has rarely been documented.

With almost 800'000 Swiss abroad, it is time to have a digital museum!

You will discover Swiss winemakers in Ukraine, Swiss watchmakers in China, and Swiss alpine guides in Canada. You will travel to places like New Glarus in the US, and Nueva Helvecia in Uruguay. And you will learn about the Cantonal Tree erected just off Leicester Square, in London, to name a few examples.

Roadmap

 

  • Establish Criteria for what is considered Swiss Cultural Heritage Abroad.

  • Create a database by country, themes, and artifacts

    This could be:

    • a citizen science project, where Swiss abroad upload information about Swiss artifacts;

    • in collaboration with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Federal office of culture.

  • Create a unique collection in collaboration with Swiss artists.

  • Create the visualization for the cultural artifacts and for the NFTs.
